Unlike the common belief of PLA-lined cups being a solution to have compostable paper cups, PLA has major issues when it comes to being environment-friendly. Bio-plastics, such as PLA(Polylactic acid), when composted make soil and water more acidic thus harming the land and marine life.*
Cambay provides water-based dispersion barrier coatings on paper cups, which are compostable according to EN 13432 standards and certified by ISEGA.
This means that any Bio-cup that comes from us will degrade upto 90% in 12 weeks time.
